Q. I want to give Linux a try. Which Linux distribution is the easiest to use and most friendly to novice Linux users? I want something that works with minimal setup, for tasks like surfing the web, email, playing and burning CDs, playing DVDs, etc.

A. Take a look at Linux Mint 6 which I can thoroughly recommend and runs pretty much 'out of the box'.

A. I thoroughly recommend Linux Mint 6 Main Edition which is Ubuntu based. Its easy to install and easy to use plus it comes with much of the software you are likely to need preinstalled.
