So i tried running Linux Fedora 9 x86_64 through virtual box but it says my cpu is an i686 and is not compatible. But intel centrino 2 should be 64 capable. Why isnt this working?
A. It is quite correct. The virtual CPU you were trying to run Fedora 9 on *is* an i686 and is not compatible. You were not installing Fedora on your physical CPU but on the virtual CPU that virtualbox creates.
Note that the 64-bit build of virtualbox won't help you. It still does the same thing, it just does it better on a 64-bit OS.

A. I would suggest installing Fedora first and using Linux Partition manager. First you shard Partition X GB for Fedora and x GB i would also suggest that you create a third partition for fedora that is 256 MB for swap file space. The partition manager in Fedora is pretty self explanatory
